Home Energy - How we're doing

Sheffield's Free Insulation Scheme

The Free Home Insulation Programme will deliver reductions of between 15,000 and 20,000 tonnes of CO2 by 2020.

The free insulation scheme launched in April 2009 is providing free cavity wall and loft insulation for homeowners and private tenants throughout the whole of Sheffield on a ward by ward basis. As well as city wide to all those aged 70 or over, or on qualifying benefits.

Learn more on our free insulation scheme pages or visit the Sheffield City Council website.

SMART Meters

The Free SMART Meter Scheme was launched in 2010 summer and has been used by 100s of households. It is estimated that nearly 35 tonnes of CO2 will be saved in these homes a year equally a saving of around £9,400. These SMART Meters are still available from your local library

The team is currently attending events, groups and meetings across Sheffield to let people know about the Free Insulation Scheme and other ways to save energy and reduce fuel bills. So please let them know if you would like them to attend any meetings or events to give 1 to 1 energy advice and help people sign up for their free insulation, as well as access other heating grants.
